Teach a Drone to See…

A quick post– some of the most exciting quadrotor demonstrations we have witnessed in indoor spaces rely on a special position-tracking system that circles a room with cameras so that a central computer can track the locations of the flying vehicles. This quick video by my colleague, Prof. Max Likhachev, shows a more realistic future in which the small flying vehicles will have enough on-board sensing to map indoor spaces, plan trajectories and even respond to unforeseen obstacles in real time.
