Drones and Telepresence

Two related, recent articles begin to explore the question of remote presence. One is Here’s Looking at You, an article by Nick Paumgarten in this week’s New Yorker, that explores how drones will become adopted by local law enforcement in the coming years. The article also balances the promise of drones with a key question- just what uses do they really have that are economically viable?  The second article, Real World Beaming, by Lawrence Peter at BBC News, raises the questions of law- how will our legal system keep up with new crimes yet to be invented thanks to telepresence that blurs distinctions of place and responsibility?
