The Robot Drone Bottleneck: people!

The Predator and Reaper drones still require significant numbers of people-hours to operate, and this wired article makes that point.  Contractors must learn to fly these machines remotely, and they also must scour the video footage to look for intelligence.  What is interesting about this is that the human element, though strong, is precisely where advances in robotics and computer science will help in the upcoming years, as machines becomes more capable of following orders, and as machines become good enough at scanning the videos to condence a hundred hours of footage into the one thirty-second segment that needs to be viewed by human eyes.
